4AP — Interior trim: Jet Black/Light Titanium. This code identifies the factory upholstery material, color combination, or interior trim specification. Browse RPO codes →

The VIN report includes 4AP, described as “Interior trim: Jet Black/Light Titanium. This code identifies the factory upholstery material, color combination, or interior trim specification” I would like to archive the correct information with the vehicle. Is there another factory document that normally confirms this code?

Check the production month as well as the model year. Mid-year changes are one reason two vehicles with the same badge can have different hardware or descriptions.

The safest interpretation is the one tied to the exact VIN, model year, platform, and market. In general, 4AP matches “Interior trim: Jet Black/Light Titanium. This code identifies the factory upholstery material, color combination, or interior trim specification” but the included hardware can vary between applications.

Before buying, I would inspect the relevant component and take a photo of its label or part number. That often resolves whether the vehicle still has the factory configuration associated with 4AP.

For a retrofit, check the modules, wiring connectors, software configuration, and compatible part numbers first. Installing the visible component alone may not make the feature operational.

My experience has been positive, but the benefit depends on how the vehicle is used. I would treat 4AP as confirmation of the configuration, then evaluate whether that equipment matters for your driving.

If you are documenting the vehicle, save both the original wording and the readable explanation. That preserves the factory terminology while making the record understandable later.

That makes sense. I will verify the production date and ask the dealer to search the VIN-specific catalog before ordering anything.
