I am comparing two otherwise similar vehicles. One has 26G: “Interior trim: Color, Teal Blue. This code identifies the factory upholstery material, color combination, or interior trim specification” How noticeable is the difference in real-world use, and are there any maintenance considerations?

This sounds more like a documentation mismatch than a decoder error. Different databases often shorten the same factory description in different ways.

Some codes are reused across several brands, but that does not always mean the parts are identical. Model, trim, drivetrain, and production date can all matter.

Check the production month as well as the model year. Mid-year changes are one reason two vehicles with the same badge can have different hardware or descriptions.

That code should be read as a factory configuration identifier, not necessarily a guarantee of a separate dashboard control. Some equipment operates automatically or is bundled with another system.

Before buying, I would inspect the relevant component and take a photo of its label or part number. That often resolves whether the vehicle still has the factory configuration associated with 26G.
