My 2020 Chevrolet Colorado has 2MU: “Primary exterior color: Dolphin Gray, Mica, (Opel). This code identifies the vehicle's factory-applied main exterior paint color” I am curious how this option has held up for other owners and whether it has caused any reliability, service, or parts-availability issues.

If you are documenting the vehicle, save both the original wording and the readable explanation. That preserves the factory terminology while making the record understandable later.

I would avoid buying retrofit parts until the connectors and module support are confirmed. Returning electronic or VIN-programmed components can be difficult.

This sounds more like a documentation mismatch than a decoder error. Different databases often shorten the same factory description in different ways.

The dealer should be able to pull a VIN-specific equipment or parts record. Ask them to search by VIN rather than entering only the three-character code.

If the feature is listed but not working, scan all related modules before assuming it was removed. A stored fault, replacement module, or configuration mismatch can make original equipment appear absent.
