I am comparing two otherwise similar vehicles. One has 6U1: “Paint Order Code. This code identifies a factory paint color, stripe, badge, or exterior appearance treatment” How noticeable is the difference in real-world use, and are there any maintenance considerations?

I would avoid buying retrofit parts until the connectors and module support are confirmed. Returning electronic or VIN-programmed components can be difficult.

If the feature is listed but not working, scan all related modules before assuming it was removed. A stored fault, replacement module, or configuration mismatch can make original equipment appear absent.

My experience has been positive, but the benefit depends on how the vehicle is used. I would treat 6U1 as confirmation of the configuration, then evaluate whether that equipment matters for your driving.
